The Netherlands Remains World’s Most Logistically Connected Country
For the fourth time in a row the Netherlands has been voted as the number 1 logistically connected country in the world by DHL’s Global Connectedness Index (GCI) ranking list.
The annual report is based on 4 important pillars: international trade flows, capital, information and people flows. The index compares 169 countries using 1.8 million datapoints to analyze the current state of globalization in general, as well as for each country.
The Dutch came out on top for the fourth time, followed by Belgium, Singapore, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
The European continent, in general, is the best logistically connected region in the world, exceling in the areas of trade and people flows. North America – leading in capital and information flows – ranks second among the world regions. The Middle East and North Africa complete the top 3.
Logistical heart of the European Union
The GCI report speaks highly of the Netherlands’ deep integration of global trade and its connections to many different countries.
The nation’s infrastructure and central location in the heart of the European Union, makes it ideal for companies to export their products into Europe and beyond. Whether it is by rail, road or water - businesses can reach 160 million consumers within 24 hours from trade hubs like Rotterdam or Amsterdam.
The Netherlands is the true gateway to Europe and home to many European and regional distribution centers, covering industries like agri/food, fashion, medical technology and many more sectors.
